At the Daniel Kayde Blackman Legacy Foundation, Inc.,

Arizona Scholarship Foundation Building a Legacy of Hope and Opportunity
At the Daniel Kayde Blackman Legacy Foundation, Inc., we believe a person’s legacy is measured not only by the years they lived, but also by the lives touched in their name.
The Foundation was established in memory of Daniel Kayde Blackman and inspired by the love, compassion, and hope that defined his life. Although our family has experienced tremendous loss, we are committed to transforming grief into meaningful service.
As an Arizona scholarship foundation and rural Arizona nonprofit, we seek to create opportunities for young people, support veterans and their families, strengthen rural communities, and help people facing grief and other difficult circumstances.
Through this work, Daniel’s memory will continue to encourage others and build a lasting legacy of hope, service, and opportunity.
Our Mission as an Arizona Scholarship Foundation
The Daniel Kayde Blackman Legacy Foundation is dedicated to supporting Arizona youth, veterans, families, and rural communities. Our programs and partnerships will focus on:
Educational scholarships
Youth mentoring and leadership development
STEM and robotics opportunities
Grief support and family resources
Veteran mental health and suicide prevention
Workforce readiness and entrepreneurship
Community service and rural development
As an Arizona youth nonprofit, we want young people to understand that their circumstances do not have to determine their future. With encouragement, education, mentorship, and access to the right resources, they can overcome challenges and build productive, fulfilling lives.
Scholarships for Rural Arizona Students
Education can open doors that once seemed out of reach. As an Arizona scholarship foundation, one of our central goals is to provide scholarships for rural Arizona students who demonstrate promise, determination, leadership, and a commitment to their communities.
Students in rural and underserved areas often have tremendous talent and ambition but may lack access to financial assistance, technology, educational programs, and professional networks. The Foundation will work to connect students with the support they need to continue their education and prepare for the future.
Our long-term vision includes offering scholarships for students in rural Arizona, including students from Snowflake, Taylor, Show Low, Navajo County, Gila County, Coconino County, tribal communities, and other underserved areas.
Youth Mentoring and Leadership Development
Every young person deserves someone who believes in them.
Through youth mentoring in Arizona, the Foundation will help young people develop confidence, personal responsibility, leadership skills, and a sense of purpose. We hope to establish mentoring programs for underserved Arizona youth while creating meaningful relationships with educators, veterans, business owners, public servants, and community leaders.
Our plans for youth programs in Snowflake, Arizona, and surrounding communities include:
Individual and group mentoring
Youth leadership programs in northern Arizona
Career exploration and workforce preparation
Community-service opportunities
College and scholarship guidance
Entrepreneurship and financial-literacy education
Character and leadership development
When we invest in young people, we are preparing tomorrow’s parents, teachers, veterans, entrepreneurs, public servants, and community leaders.
STEM Programs for Rural Students
Access to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics can prepare students for some of the fastest-growing careers in Arizona and across the country.
The Foundation plans to support STEM programs for rural students, including hands-on science activities, technology education, engineering challenges, and robotics programs. Our goal is to help expand access to STEM and robotics programs for rural students who may not otherwise have these opportunities.
By developing STEM programs in Navajo County and other rural communities, we can help young people build problem-solving skills, discover new interests, and envision career paths they may not have previously considered.
Veteran Support in Arizona
Our veterans answered the call to serve our nation. We have a responsibility to stand with them and their families when they return home.
The Foundation is committed to strengthening veteran support in Arizona by connecting veterans and military families with trusted organizations, community partners, and essential services. This may include assistance related to mental health, employment transitions, financial hardship, social isolation, and the lasting effects of military service.
Our goal is to help improve access to:
Veteran resources in Navajo County
Mental-health resources for Arizona veterans
Employment and workforce programs
Family-support services
Community connections and fellowship
Rural veteran support in Arizona
Veteran suicide-prevention resources
Through partnerships with nonprofit organizations helping Arizona veterans, we hope to promote healing, fellowship, renewed purpose, and stronger families.
No veteran should feel forgotten, and no military family should believe it must face its challenges alone.
Veteran Suicide Prevention in Arizona
Veteran suicide is a serious issue that requires compassion, cooperation, and timely access to professional assistance.
Supporting veteran suicide prevention in Arizona will be an important part of the Foundation’s mission. We will work to raise awareness, reduce the stigma surrounding mental-health care, and help veterans and their families locate qualified crisis and support services.
We also want to help communities better understand how to support veterans in rural communities, where distance, transportation, limited services, and isolation can make it harder to receive assistance.
The Foundation does not replace professional medical or crisis services. Instead, we want to serve as a trusted community partner that helps veterans and families find appropriate resources when they need them.
Grief Support in Arizona
Grief changes a family forever. It can leave people feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure of how to move forward. Although we cannot erase that pain, we can walk beside people as they begin to heal.
Our personal experience with loss has strengthened our commitment to advancing grief support in Arizona, particularly in rural communities where services may be limited. We want to help families find compassionate support, trustworthy information, and meaningful connections.
Our future work may include:
Grief support for families who have lost a child
Referrals to qualified counselors and support organizations
Peer-support and community gatherings
Educational materials about grief and healing
Family resources in Show Low, Arizona, and nearby communities
Grief support in rural Arizona
The Daniel Kayde Blackman Legacy Foundation represents our decision to build something meaningful from loss—something that honors Daniel’s life while helping others find hope.
Strengthening Rural Arizona Communities
Rural Arizona is filled with hardworking people, strong families, and communities that care deeply for one another. However, rural residents often face limited access to educational programs, mental-health care, employment opportunities, transportation, and other essential services.
As a Snowflake, Arizona nonprofit, our work will begin by serving Snowflake, Taylor, Show Low, and surrounding communities. As the Foundation grows, we hope to expand our partnerships and community programs in northeastern Arizona, including Navajo, Gila, and Coconino counties and tribal communities.
We aim to become one of the trusted nonprofits serving Navajo and Gila counties by listening to residents and working alongside local schools, businesses, faith communities, veterans’ organizations, and service providers.
Meaningful progress begins with listening, building trust, and respecting the people who understand their communities best.
Workforce-Readiness Programs for Arizona Youth
Education should help young people build a bridge to opportunity. The Foundation plans to develop workforce-readiness programs for Arizona youth that connect students with careers, technical training, entrepreneurship, and practical life skills.
These programs may include:
Résumé and interview preparation
Career mentoring
Job-shadowing opportunities
Skilled-trade and technical-career exploration
Entrepreneurship training
Financial literacy
Partnerships with local employers
By connecting education with real-world opportunities, we can help young people prepare for successful careers while strengthening the workforce in rural Arizona.
